Is it ok to submit the repaired/enhanced/changed photo instead of the existing one in your gallery without notice?

By changing I don't mean photo manipulation or altering the image completely, only perhaps adding a contrast to a portion of a photo, enhancing curves or cloning away the spot or piece that bothers you (not half of the photo

), which you've realized will look better after editing.
When you resubmit a photo, there's a checkbox which says: "This edit is minor (your deviant watchers will not be notified)".
Which edit is minor?

Maybe these are stupid questions, but ok, I'm stupid...

just removing spots and changing little details is nothing... however if you change the whole tone of the photo by say adding a photoshop filter or something of that sorts.. then yes I say uncheck the box, but just removing spots and minor curve adjustments is no reason to uncheck the box

You have a point there. Maybe it's better to upload major edit photo as a new submission.

I think that the "your deviant watchers will not be notified" sentense in the submission page is made to "protect" the watchers. I mean, if someone upload a picture and then start to make a million changes cheking that box protect watchers from receive million of versions of basically the same pic. Instead, if the changes really makes the picture looks better and you want all the watchers to see the new result just let the box unchecked. Just my opinion
